This is the head house of Geum Nan-su, pen name Seongjae. Geum Nan-su (1530–1604) was a scholar of the mid-Joseon period and a disciple of Yi Hwang (Toegye). During the Jeongyu War of 1597 he raised a righteous army in his home village and was active in its defence, and later served as magistrate of Bonghwa. The exact date on which the present building was constructed is not known, but its architectural style suggests the late Joseon period. The daecheong, the main wooden-floored hall of the women's quarters, is set off to the right, and the sangbang, an upper room, projects forward in front of the daecheong. The house is also unusual in that the space above the main bedroom is built as a single continuous loft.
