This was the place where Gwon Ho-mun (pen name Songam) taught after founding it in 1569, the second year of King Seonjo of Joseon. Gwon Ho-mun was a disciple of Toegye and was known as a gangho-gosa, a "lofty scholar of the rivers and lakes" who withdrew from public life. The building is a modest structure standing on a platform about 1 metre high and using natural stones as its foundation stones; its floor plan is a single line (一-shaped), and its roof forms a T-shape. Seen from the side, the roof on the left is a gable roof shaped like the character 人, while the roof on the right is a hipped-and-gabled roof whose side roofline is shaped like the character 八.
