Gwiaejeong Pavilion in Yeongcheon is a pavilion built by Jo Gyu-seung, pen name Seongjae, to honour his elder brother Jo Geuk-seung (1803–1877), pen name Gwiae, a civil official of the late Joseon period. Both brothers held numerous official posts, but in their later years they retired to their home village, where they devoted themselves to teaching scholars and poured their energies into scholarly research, leaving behind works such as the Gwiaejip and the Seongjaejip. To this day, the Jo clan and local residents hold the two brothers' learning, virtue and thought in high regard, and continue to work to carry it forward and develop it further.
