This is the residence where Ugye Yi Si-hyeong lived during the Joseon period. Yi Si-hyeong was the son of Unak Yi Ham, and was noted for his outstanding scholarship and talent. The house was built in 1607, the 40th year of King Seonjo, and when Yi Ham took up his post as magistrate of Uiryeong, his second son, Yi Si-hyeong, is said to have taken charge of managing it. However, in 1612, the fourth year of King Gwanghaegun, when Yi Si-hyeong was 27, he died at his mother's family home on his way back from sitting the state examination. The house has since been preserved for about 400 years, down to the present day.
