This is the head house (jongga) of Gim Bang-geol (1623–1695) of the Uiseong Gim clan. Gim Bang-geol was a civil official of the late Joseon period who held posts including Daesagan and Daesaseong, offices of the royal censorate and the national academy. The house was built in 1663, the fourth year of King Heonjong, originally standing lower down from its present site, and was moved to its current location in 1985 owing to the construction of Imha Dam. It comprises a main house, a storehouse, a gatehouse, a mill, and a shrine and separate shrine enshrining the ancestral spirit tablets. Entering through the gatehouse, one crosses the courtyard to find the main house ahead. The main house measures five bays across the front and five bays to the side, forming a square plan. The roof is a hipped-and-gabled roof which, seen from the side, resembles the character for "eight" (八). In its layout, the house displays the style typical of a Joseon-period clan head house.
