This clay Buddha statue stands 59 cm tall. It has a head that is large in proportion to the body, and a torso that is low yet gives a sense of stability — features characteristic of late Joseon Buddhist sculpture. The hair is rendered in tight curls, and above it rises a high, topknot-like protuberance. Between the hair and the protuberance is a crescent-shaped ornament. The face is square in form, gazing straight ahead with a somewhat solemn expression. The robe covers both shoulders, and beneath it the figure wears an undergarment covering the abdomen below the chest, together with the outer robe. The undergarment is tied below the chest, but no knot is shown — only a thick horizontal band is indicated across the chest. The left palm faces upward, while the right hand rests lightly on the knee. The left hand was made separately and attached.
