Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krMangwijeong is a pavilion built by later descendants on the old site where Jang Chang-u, an ancestor of the Heungseong Jang clan, had once taught scholarship, in order to honour his virtue. It was first erected in 1934 and rebuilt in 1945; the building measures two kan at the front and two kan at the side. The roof is a paljak, hip-and-gable roof, which seen from the side takes the shape of the character for 'eight' (八). Many poems and inscribed boards hang inside the pavilion. Mangwijeong stands in the middle of a large pond, set in a row with other pavilions and linked to them by bridges.
