Baksangjinuisa Birthplace
박상진의사생가 · 朴尙鎭義士生家

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is the house where Bak Sang-jin (pen name Goheon, 1884–1921), an independence activist, was born and raised. Bak Sang-jin organised the secret society Daehan Gwangbokhoe and served as its commander-in-chief, working for Korea's liberation. The outer gate quarters, men's quarters (sarangchae) and women's quarters (anchae), along with other outbuildings, are arranged in the shape of the Hangeul consonant ㅂ (bieup). The sarangchae has a wooden-floored hall and rooms, and passing through the inner gate behind it leads to the ㄱ-shaped anchae. The spaces for men and women are divided simply by small doors, giving each space its own independence.
