Geumnanjeong Pavilion
금란정 · 金蘭亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krGeumnanjeong Pavilion was built by Kim Hyeong-jin, a scholar of the late Joseon period, and stands below Siru Peak, north of Gyeongpodae Pavilion, with a view over Gyeongpoho. Plum trees were planted around it, and because it was a place where its owner enjoyed himself among the plum blossoms in the company of cranes, it was originally named Maehakjeong. After the property later passed to a new owner, it was moved and rebuilt on its present site and renamed Geumnanjeong. The building measures three bays across the front and two bays deep, with a hip-and-gable (paljak) roof that forms the shape of the Chinese character 八 (eight) when viewed from the side. A plaque reading "Geumnanjeong" hangs on the front, and one reading "Gyeongjungbyeorup" hangs on the side.
