Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis shrine was built to honour Deokcheongun, the tenth son of King Jeongjong (r. 1398–1400) of Joseon. Deokcheongun devotedly helped poor commoners and, despite his status as a prince, went out to the fields to farm. When a flood one summer left hundreds of people destitute, he came to their relief, and because of his accumulated virtue he was also known as Jeokdeokgong, meaning "lord of accumulated virtue." The shrine originally stood in Bangchuk-ri, Nam-myeon, Yeongi-gun, but as the building had fallen into disrepair it was moved to its present site in 1739, the fifteenth year of King Yeongjo.
