When the new Gyeongju Police Station building was completed in 1973, this pagoda's three roof stones were moved to the police station's garden for preservation, leaving only the stylobate in place; in response to sustained requests from local residents, it was moved back to its original site in 1995 and given its present name. The single-tier stylobate was newly made at the same size as the original stones and assembled from four stones, with corner pillars and intermediate pillars carved into it. Above this, the body stones and roof stones were stacked to form three storeys. The five-tiered cornice carved into the underside of the roof stones is relatively distinct. The leftover stones from the re-erection of the pagoda are still preserved to the west of the pagoda today, allowing its original form to be understood with greater certainty. The pagoda is presumed to have been built in the Unified Silla period.
