This shrine houses the portrait of Nam I-ung (1575–1648) and was built in 1906 by Confucian scholars. A statesman active under King Seonjo, King Gwanghaegun and King Injo, Nam I-ung was known for upholding the law and living without extravagance. He passed the civil service examination in 1613, the fifth year of King Gwanghaegun, and held several posts, including assistant section chief in the Ministry of Rites and assistant section chief in the Ministry of War. During the Manchu invasion of 1636, when Crown Prince Sohyeon was taken captive to Shenyang in China, Nam I-ung attended him devotedly and accompanied him there, and was later ennobled as Chunseong Buwongun. After becoming Daesaheon, the Inspector-General, in 1638, the sixteenth year of King Injo, he enforced the law strictly and even persecuted shamans in an effort to stamp out superstition. His tomb and memorial stele stand behind the shrine.
