This is the house where Yeom Bo-gil, maternal uncle of King Cheoljong of Joseon (r. 1849-1863), lived. Built in 1853, the fourth year of King Cheoljong's reign, the house originally had an H-shaped layout, with the main women's quarters (anchae) and the men's quarters (sarangchae) placed to either side, but after part of the servants' quarters (haengnangchae) was demolished, only the U-shaped main block survives today. The sarangchae and anchae are connected in a straight line, and the inner (anchae) and outer (sarangchae) spaces are simply divided by a low wall. Although modest in scale, the house has an old-fashioned, elegant beauty.
