These tombs lie on the slope to the southeast of Jangwonbong Peak on Mudeungsan Mountain. There are six tombs in all, but only two have had their stone chambers, which once held the coffins, fully exposed. Tombs No. 1 and No. 2 share a similar structure: the floor is laid with two layers of thin flat stones to allow water to drain well, and the lowest base is made firm with hard greyish-brown clay mixed with pebbles from the stream. The width of the burial chamber narrows as it rises, and two capstones are placed on top, their weight holding the east and west walls in place. Because documentary research into the Baekje history of this region is difficult, the stone chamber tombs of Ullim-dong, a rare example of Baekje-style stone chamber tombs excavated in this area, are an important source for archaeological research.
