Yanggwadongjeong Pavilion
양과동정 · 良苽洞亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion is also called Ganwondae, 'Remonstrance Terrace', because many natives of this area rose to become royal censors and are said to have discussed state affairs here. The exact date of its construction is not known, but the calligraphy reading 'Yanggwadongjeong' was written by Song Si-yeol (1607–1689). Yanggwadongjeong was used as a venue for enacting dongyak (village compacts) and hyangyak (community compacts), hence the name dongjeong, 'village pavilion'. Inside the pavilion hang poems and writings composed on the pavilion, together with documents relating to these village and community compacts, such as the Yanggwadong-jeok Ibuiseo and the Yanggwadongjeong Hyangyakseo.
