Cheombaekdang Hall
첨백당 · 瞻栢堂

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis building was erected to honour the filial conduct of Woo Hyo-jung and the loyalty of Woo Myeong-sik, and to educate members of the Danyang Woo clan living in Gwang-ri. The name Cheombaekdang means "the house that looks up towards Baekbatgol," the valley where Woo Myeong-sik's grave is located. It was built in the 33rd year of Emperor Gojong's reign (1896) and was newly renovated in 1924. The roof is a gabled roof that forms the shape of the character 人 (person) when viewed from the side. At the centre of the house is a large wooden-floored hall, set distinctively higher than the narrow verandas on either side. The verandas are neatly enclosed with a low railing.
