These are documents left by Kim Bong-seon (1856-1909), who was active during the Korean Empire, along with several relics including the daeryebok, the ceremonial court dress worn on important state occasions. Kim Bong-seon was from Namwon in Jeonbuk State, and after the Eulsa Treaty he carried out secret orders from Emperor Gojong. He worked on researching ways to restore the national sovereignty undermined by the Eulsa Treaty, gathering related intelligence, and on recommending and dispatching secret envoys to the Hague Peace Conference. The documents comprise 48 items, including old official papers and letters, royal edicts, résumés and certificates containing Emperor Gojong's secret orders, and they are in good condition. As for the ceremonial dress, the lower garment has been lost, and only the upper garment survives, along with the sword worn at the waist, the ceremonial hat, the identification tag (hopae) and a seal.
