This is the shrine of the Haeju O clan, dedicated to Wanwoldang O Eung-jeong (1548–1597) and the four loyal subjects across three generations of his family: his eldest son Wook, his second son Jik, and his grandson Bang-eon. O Eung-jeong was a military official of the mid-Joseon period who passed the military service examination in 1574, the seventh year of King Seonjo. In 1597, during the Jeongyu War (the second Japanese invasion of Korea), he defended Suncheon in Jeolla-do, and when Japanese forces invaded Namwon that same year he took part in the Battle of Namwon Fortress, where he was killed in action. Each year, local scholars hold an autumn memorial rite at Chungnyeolsa Shrine.
