This hall enshrines a portrait of Choe Chi-won and was built in 1912 by his descendants. Besides handing down the achievements of their founding ancestor to later generations, the builders also intended, by enshrining a sage of old, to instil the people with the spirit of the nation. Choe Chi-won was a scholar and writer of the late Silla period. At the age of twelve he travelled to study in Tang China, and at eighteen he passed the special state examination for foreign students. He returned to Silla at twenty-nine and, over the following decade or so, held both central and provincial offices, rising to the rank of achan, the highest office open to someone of his sixth-head-rank status. In his forties he gave up office and lived in seclusion, eventually entering Haeinsa Temple on Gayasan Mountain, where he remained; it is not known when he died. The hall measures three bays across the front and one bay to the side, and is enclosed by a rectangular wall. The roof is a gable roof, shaped like the character 人 when seen from the side, and the raised central gate is painted with a taegeuk (yin-yang) motif.
