Uiseongak Pavilion was used as a residence by the monk-general Yeonggyu, who practised religious training while travelling between Gapsa Temple on Gyeryongsan Mountain and Boseoksa Temple here. Yeonggyu was a monk who raised a righteous army during the Japanese invasions of 1592–98; joining forces with the righteous-army leader Jo Heon, he fought to repel the Japanese forces that had entered Geumsan, and died a martyr's death there together with the Seven Hundred Righteous Soldiers (Chilbaeuisa). The building has a frontage of three bays and a depth of one bay, with a gabled (matbae) roof, and bears a plaque reading 'Uiseongak', written by Kim Byeong-ju, who held the title of Changnyeong-wi (royal son-in-law).
