Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krSogyejeong Pavilion was built in 1923 by his disciples to honour the achievements of Seok Jae-jun (1866–1945); it is named Sogyejeong after his pen name, Sogye. Seok Jae-jun opened a private school where he kept his students from being influenced by foreign customs and awakened in them the spirit of the scholar (seonbi). The building measures three kan across the front and one-and-a-half kan to the side, and is roofed with a paljakjibung, a hipped-and-gabled roof that forms the shape of the Chinese character for "eight" (八) when viewed from the side.
