Sibukjeong Pavilion
시북정 · 市北亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krSibukjeong was built as a pavilion using the daecheong - the wooden-floored central hall - of the house of Sin Bin, who served as Vice Minister of the Board of Taxation during the Japanese invasions of 1592. The rooms of the main house where ancestral rites were performed have since disappeared, leaving only the daecheong standing today. After passing to Kim Jong-yeong it was named Sibukjeong, and it is now said to belong to the Suncheon Kim clan. It measures four bays across the front and two bays in depth, with a hipped-and-gabled (paljak) roof that forms a shape like the Chinese character for 'eight' (八) when viewed from the side. Sibukjeong is an important building that shows the typical pavilion style of this region.
