금남군정충신영정각 · 錦南君鄭忠信影幀閣

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion enshrines the portrait of Jeong Chung-sin (1576–1636), pen name Manun. Jeong was a military official of the mid-Joseon period, born into a humble family. He studied the Four Books under Yi Hang-bok, Minister of War, and was known for his keen intelligence. When the Japanese invasions of Korea broke out, he served under General Gwon Yul; though short in stature, he was spirited and earned praise as a commander of great virtue. When Yi Gwal's Rebellion broke out, he helped put it down and was named a first-class meritorious subject, being granted the title Geumnamgun. He excelled in many fields, including astronomy, geography, divination and medicine, and was renowned for his integrity. His posthumous title was Chungmu. The pavilion was built in 1811, the 11th year of King Sunjo, by his descendant Jeong Baek-heung. It has three bays across the front and one bay to the side, with a gable roof that forms the shape of the character for "person" when viewed from the side.
