This is a seowon, a Confucian academy, that enshrines the spirit tablets of Bae Hyeon-gyeong (posthumous title Muyeolgong), Bae Jeong-ji, Bae In-gyeong, Bae Maeng-gwan, Bae Sang-gon and Bae Gyeong, in commemoration of the great services they rendered to the country. It was built in 1856, the seventh year of King Cheoljong of Joseon, and was abolished under Heungseon Daewongun's order to close seowon during the reign of Emperor Gojong (r. 1863–1907), before later being restored. The building measures five bays across the front and three bays to the side, comprising two rooms on the left, a two-bay wooden-floored hall in the centre, and one room on the right. The roof is a paljak roof, shaped like the Chinese character 八 (eight) when viewed from the side. The main gate, Jojemun, is a raised gate measuring five bays across the front and two bays to the side, with the central bay used as the entrance. To the right of the lecture hall stands Sanhaejeong, a pavilion measuring three bays across the front and three bays to the side, also with a paljak roof.
