Yakgyejeong Pavilion was built by Yakgye Gwon Sun-gi as a place to cultivate scholarship and carry out his studies. It originally stood beside the Banbyeoncheon River, but was swept away by a flood. It was rebuilt within the village in 1897, the second year of the Gwangmu era, and later moved again to its present site in 1989 when the Imha Dam was built. The building has three bays across the front and two bays to the side, with a hip-and-gable roof that forms the shape of the Chinese character for "eight" (八) when seen from the side. Yakgyejeong is a modest structure, its foundation stones and pillars set directly on natural, unhewn rock.
