This is a shrine built to honour Danggok Jeong Hui-bo. Jeong Hui-bo was a great scholar who had studied Cheng–Zhu Neo-Confucianism (jeongju-hak) in depth, and who forwent an official career to devote himself to training the next generation. The building was erected in 1853, the fourth year of King Cheoljong of Joseon, but was dismantled under the order to abolish seowon academies issued by Heungseon Daewongun, and was rebuilt in 1874, the eleventh year of Emperor Gojong. It is three bays wide at the front and three bays deep, with a hip-and-gable roof that, viewed from the side, forms the shape of the Chinese character for "eight" (八).
