Ojeongdongseongyosachon comprises missionary residences built between 1955 and 1958; this entry covers the three buildings in the northern section, the earliest to be built, dating from 1955. After missionaries left Korea in the early 1990s, part of the residences became home to the Indon Institute, founded to commemorate William Alderman Linton (1891–1960), the founder of Hannam University, and now houses and displays artefacts related to him. These buildings reflect the conditions of Korean society in the 1950s: with their red brick walls topped by Korean-style roofs and their main entrances converging on a porch, they show the introduction of Korean architectural style into Western-style construction.
