Choejaehan Old House, Boeun
보은 최재한 고가 · 報恩 崔在翰 古家

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe Choejaehan Old House is thought to have been built around the same time as the neighbouring Choe Gamchal house (1892), which stands just across a wall, and it comprises a main house (anchae), a storage house (gwangchae), a men's quarters (sarangchae) and a gate house (mungan-chae). The anchae is a thatched-roof house six kan (bays) wide and two kan deep, exceptionally large for a thatched dwelling. The sarangchae did not exist at the time of the site's designation but was reconstructed in 2009 on the basis of historical research; it is three kan wide and two kan deep, with single eaves and a hipped roof. The gwangchae is a single-eaved building eight kan wide and one kan deep.
