Standing Stone Buddha of Hansansa Temple, Jecheon
KOGL Type 2Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This standing stone Buddha is carved in the form of a stone pillar. It is a valuable example that carries the sculptural style of the close of the Goryeo dynasty into the Joseon dynasty: although it lacks refinement, it shows the growing secularisation of Buddhist imagery of the period. As a pillar-shaped statue, its lower section is slightly wider than its upper section, and its sides are flat. The carving is executed in incised line work, with relatively deep lines, while the two sides and the back were left uncarved.
