This is the head house of the Goseong Yi clan, who lived for generations in Jirye-ri. It was built in 1710, the 36th year of King Sukjong, by Yi Won-bo, grandson of Yi Hu-jang, the clan's founding ancestor in this area, and was named Yi Tae-hyeong Historic House after Yi Won-bo's eldest grandson. It originally stood in Jirye-ri, Imdong-myeon, but was relocated to its present site in 1989 because of the construction of the Imha Dam. The house consists of an I-shaped sarangchae (men's quarters) and a U-shaped jeongchim (main residential hall), which together form a square, courtyard-enclosing layout. The sarangchae is a modest building with a hip-and-gable roof, comprising a kitchen and rooms. The jeongchim, used for holding ancestral rites and conducting household affairs, measures four bays across the front and three bays deep.
