Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion stands northwest of Jinnamnu Gate at Gongsanseong Fortress and was first built in 1734, the tenth year of King Yeongjo of Joseon. It is said to have been erected to commemorate King Injo's stay here when he briefly fled to Gongju to escape the rebellion raised by Yi Gwal in 1624. The pavilion was repaired on several later occasions, and in 1970 it was completely dismantled and restored to its present form. The building is three bays wide at the front and two bays deep at the side, with a hip-and-gable (paljak) roof shaped, when viewed from the side, like the character for "eight" (八).
