This seodang (village school) was built to honour the virtue of Jichon Kim Bang-geol. Kim Bang-geol (1623–1695) passed the jeunggwang mungwa, a special augmented civil service examination, in the third class in 1660, the first year of King Hyeonjong, and went on to hold many official posts. Jisan Village School was built in 1800, the twenty-fourth year of King Jeongjo, but was torn down under Emperor Gojong when Heungseon Daewongun ordered the abolition of seowon, the private Confucian academies. It was restored in 1926, and in 1988 it was relocated to its present site because of the construction of the Imha Dam. The school building is five bays wide at the front and two bays deep at the side, built in a single straight row. The roof is a hip-and-gable (paljak) roof, shaped, when viewed from the side, like the character for "eight" (八). The bracket sets decorating and supporting the eaves are in the ikgong style, shaped like a bird's wings.
