Yu Bong-si (1654–1709) moved to Wi-dong in Imdong-myeon, Andong, so that his two sons could pursue their studies there. Both sons devoted themselves wholeheartedly to scholarship, and once their learning and official careers became known throughout the land, a study was built on this site and three trees were planted, giving the building its name, Samgajeong. It was built in 1674, the fifteenth year of King Hyeonjong of Joseon, at Wi-ri in Imdong-myeon, Andong County. It was moved to Bakgok-ri in 1922, and moved again to its present site in 1987 when the Imha Dam was built.
