Hongcheon Cheol Stele
홍천철비 · 洪川鐵碑

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krA seonjeongbi is a stele erected to commemorate the virtue of an official who governed wisely and benevolently; this stele honours Won Man-chun, who served as magistrate of Hongcheon. It takes the form of an iron stele set upon an unhewn base stone, with a pair of small, ear-like projections rising charmingly from either side of its upper edge. On the front, the name of the stele is carved vertically in the centre, flanked on either side by two columns of raised inscription. Uniquely, the back records the name of the craftsman who made it. It originally stood by the road in front of the Hongcheon County Office in Huimang-ri, Hongcheon-eup, Hongcheon-gun, but has since been relocated to and is now kept at the Hongcheon Museum.
