Three-story Stone Pagoda at Jukyangnisa Temple Site, Okcheon
옥천 죽향리사지 삼층석탑 · 沃川 竹香里寺址 三層石塔

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pagoda originally stood at a temple site in Tapseon-gol, Jukhyang-ri, and was moved to the grounds of Jukhyang Elementary School during the Japanese colonial period. Although small, it retains a single-tier base supporting a three-storey body, topped by a finial made up of an inverted-bowl ornament (bokbal) and a jewel finial (boju), so that it is close to its original form. The base is carved from a single stone, with only corner pillars (ujoo) and intermediate supporting pillars (taengju) carved in relief and no other decoration; the upper surface of the base's capstone has a single raised tier to support the body of the pagoda. On the first-storey body stone, corner pillars are carved in relief on each face, and a door is incised on the front. The body stones of the second and third storeys have no corner pillars, and the third storey has a niche (gamsil) for enshrining a spirit tablet. Overall the pagoda is very slender and elongated in form, and is presumed to have been built in the late Goryeo period; it is 291 cm in total height and 92 cm wide at the base.
