It was first built when Ryu Won, pen name Sunamwi (1540–1567), settled in Bakgok-ri, Imdong-myeon, Andong. The building was lost to fire around 1700 and was rebuilt around 1850 in the shape of the character 日 (sun), then rebuilt again in 1922 into its present form. It was later moved to its current location in 1987 when Musil village in Bakgok-ri was submerged by the Imha Dam reservoir. The building consists of a main hall in a straight, one-stroke (一) line, with the lower quarters in front forming an L-shape (ㄱ). In the main hall, a kitchen, main room, wooden-floored hall, room and another wooden-floored hall follow in sequence from the left. The room to the right of the wooden-floored hall is divided into four small rooms arranged like the character 田 (field). The lower quarters consist of two ondol, or heated-floor, rooms and two storage rooms.
