This is an academy built to honour five worthies, known as the Ohyeonsa — Bang Sa-ryang, Bang Gwi-on, An Jeon, Bang Eung-hyeon, and An Chang-guk. Bang Sa-ryang was a physician active from the late Goryeo to the early Joseon period, who took part in editing the Hyangyak jesaeng jipseongbang (Compendium of Native Korean Medicine) and the Sinchan jipseong mauibang-uuibang, published in 1399, the first year of King Jeong Jong of Joseon. Yucheonseowon was established in 1830, the thirtieth year of King Sunjo, but was closed down under Heungseon Daewongun's order abolishing seowon academies. It was never rebuilt afterward, and in 1909 descendants erected a memorial stone on the site. Today no buildings remain where the academy once stood; only its surrounding wall survives.
