Yeongok Ancient Tomb
연곡고분 · 連谷古墳

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a Silla-period tomb located on a mountain peak south-west of Yeongok township office. Part of the capstone has been damaged, but the tomb is otherwise in relatively good condition. The structure of the tomb is not known with certainty, as no proper academic survey has been conducted, but by comparison with surrounding tomb remains it is thought to be a stone-chamber tomb (seoksilbun) with stone walls built up on four sides and covered with a capstone. Fragments of typical Silla pottery have been collected in the vicinity, including pedestalled dishes (gobae), long-necked jars with round bases (wonjeo janggyeongho), and round-based jars with short necks (wonjeo dangyeongho).
