This is the private study hall of Min Singuk (pen name Iyodang), the eighth-generation descendant of Min Anbu (pen name Nongeun), one of the seventy-two scholars of Dumundong at the end of Goryeo. Iyodang built it in 1874, the eleventh year of Emperor Gojong of Joseon, withdrawing into seclusion at Noeun village in keeping with his ancestor Nongeun's precept known as "wealth and renown are fleeting clouds" — a warning that great riches and high social standing, like floating clouds, are no more than the transience of a human life, and so are to be guarded against. The building measures five bays across the front and one and a half bays along the side, and its roof, seen from the side, takes the shape of the Chinese character for "eight" — a hipped-and-gabled paljak roof. A wooden floor runs along the front, where round columns are used, and on the front of the building hangs a signboard reading "Iyojeong", written in the hand of Heungseon Daewongun himself.
