Built around 1913, the house has its main hall (anchae) and outer, men's quarters (sarangchae) arranged to form a square, ㅁ-shaped plan. The anchae is a building four bays wide and two bays deep, with a hip-and-gable roof (paljakjibung) whose profile, seen from the side, resembles the Chinese character for "eight" (八). It is a kyeopjip, a double-depth house whose interior is divided into front and back rows, each containing three rooms. The sarangchae has, beside the gate leading into the anchae, a wooden-floored room used for storing goods, with a further room built behind it. A narrow veranda (toenmaru) runs along the outside of the building, linking the rooms together for easy access.
