Suaedang was built in 1939 by Suae Yu Jin-geol. It was named Suaedang after Yu Jin-geol's pen name, and originally stood in Sugok-dong, Imdong-myeon, but was moved to its present site in 1987 due to the construction of the Imha Dam. It consists of three buildings; the main building has seven bays across the front and two bays to the side, with a paljak (hip-and-gable) roof that, seen from the side, forms the shape of the character 八 (eight). The storehouse has a right-angled (ㄱ-shaped) plan with ten bays across the front. Suaedang was built of Chunyang pine and is very well preserved, clearly displaying the architectural style of the late Joseon period.
