Yu Ae Tomb
유애묘 · 遺愛廟

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a shrine built to commemorate Kim Hui, the first magistrate of Namwon in the Joseon period. While serving as magistrate of Namwon, Kim Hui governed the people with benevolence and handed down clear, fair judgements that earned him the praise of the residents, but he unfortunately died of illness while still in office. The shrine burned down in 1597, the 30th year of King Seonjo, and was rebuilt during the reign of King Yeongjo; it measures three bays across the front and two bays along the side, with a gabled (matbae) roof that, seen from the side, forms the shape of the character 人 (person). Memorial rites are held in spring, in the fourth month, at the shrine, and in autumn, in the tenth month, at his grave in Songjeong-ri.
