This house was built by the late Joseon scholar Yu Hwi-mun (1773–1827). Built in the 1700s, it took the name Hogowa Head House from Yu Hwi-mun's pen name, Hogowa. The building standing today originally stood at Maryeong-ri, Imdong-myeon, Andong, but was relocated and rebuilt there following the construction of the Imha Dam.
