This is an inscribed rock symbolising Baekojeong, one of the five archery grounds of Inwangsan Mountain with a long historical pedigree; according to documentary records the inscription is said to have been written by Eom Han-bung, a renowned calligrapher of King Sukjong's reign. The brushstrokes are firm and the composition tightly structured, making this an outstanding work carrying the spirit found in large-character calligraphy of the mid-Joseon period and after.
