Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krA spirit-path stele (sindobi) records the lifetime achievements of a king or high official for later generations and is erected to the southeast of his tomb. This stele honours the career of the civil official Kim Yong (1557–1620), a minister under King Seonjo of Joseon. Known by his pen name Uncheon, he passed the state civil service examination at the age of thirty-four and entered government service. He held posts including censor at the Office of Royal Decrees (Yemungwan) and third counsellor of the Ministry of War, and when the Japanese Invasions of 1592 broke out he became commander of the defence of Andong and achieved great merit. He later served as a compiling official, taking part in the editing and compilation of the Annals of King Seonjo. The stele, housed within a stele pavilion, has its body raised on a low square base stone and is topped with a half-moon-shaped capstone. It was erected in 1892, the twenty-ninth year of Emperor Gojong of Joseon, with the inscription composed by Gwon Yeon-ha and the calligraphy written by Kim Han-rak.
