Chunguisa is a shrine built to honour the memory of General Jeong Mun-bu (1565–1624), posthumous title Chunguigong, a renowned general of the Joseon dynasty. Chunguigong Jeong Mun-bu was a civil official and righteous-army (uibyeong) leader of the mid-Joseon period. He passed the state examination in 1588, the 21st year of King Seonjo, and when the Japanese invasion of 1592 broke out in the 25th year of King Seonjo, he organised a righteous army and fought and defeated the Japanese forces. In 1593, the 26th year of King Seonjo, he also won a great victory over the Japanese army at the Battle of Baektapgyo, fully recovering the Gwanbuk region. He later held various official posts, but was implicated in Yi Gwal's Rebellion and died under torture. His posthumous title was Chungui. The building has three bays across the front and two bays to the side, and its roof is a gabled (matbae) roof forming the shape of the character 人 (person) when viewed from the side.
