Chuncheon Kim Jeong-eun House
춘천김정은가옥 · 春川金正殷家屋

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe Kim Jeong-eun House in Chuncheon stands at the foot of a low hill. Its main house (anchae) is L-shaped in plan, with an attached men's quarters (sarangchae), the two together forming an overall U-shaped layout. In the main house, a wooden-floored central hall (daecheong) occupies the centre, with a room across the hall (geonneonbang) to its left, and to its right an upper room, the main bedroom, and the kitchen, in that order; a loft was built into the kitchen ceiling. A pair of doors was fitted into the rear wall of the daecheong, and a door was also set between the upper room and the main bedroom to divide the space. In front of the daecheong, tall posts were erected and a roof added to form a sunshade structure, to block sunlight and keep out rain. In the men's quarters, the kitchen and a sarang room are arranged to the left of the main gate, while a storeroom and, behind it, another room are placed to the right.
