The stele stands on a hill to the east of the Hamancheon Stream, commemorating the integrity of General Jo Sun. When the Joseon forces campaigned against Liaodong, Jo Sun took command of the left-centre army and marched out; but when the army reached Wihwado Island and Yi Seong-gye turned back, Jo Sun strongly opposed the retreat, resigned his post, and returned to his hometown, never to serve again. After Yi Seong-gye ascended the throne, he summoned Jo Sun repeatedly, but Jo Sun never went to serve him. After Jo Sun's death, the king ordered a stele to be erected in front of his house, decreeing that anyone passing it should dismount from their horse. The stele consists of a flat base stone supporting an upright body, its top edge rounded. It had once stood broken in front of his house, and was later moved here to be preserved.
