Sujeongsa Temple was built by the monk Naong during the reign of King Gongmin of Goryeo (r. 1352–1374). It is said to have been named Sujeongsa, meaning Crystal Temple, because the surrounding scenery is beautiful and the spring water flowing down from the mountain, together with the stones scattered in the valley, were as clear as crystal. Within the temple grounds are Daeungjeon Hall, a sanshingak (mountain spirit shrine) and the monks' living quarters. Daeungjeon Hall measures three kan across the front and two kan to the side, with a gable roof. The bracket sets that support and decorate the eaves are arranged in the dapo style, with brackets placed both above the columns and between them, giving the building a neat and compact appearance.
