Jagwongwanji Site, Miryang
밀양 작원관지 · 密陽 鵲院關址

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krGeomse-ri, Samnangjin-eup, Miryang-si, Gyeongsangnam-do has long been a key transportation hub linking the east-west and north-south routes of the Yeongnam region, and is the site where Jagwongwan once stood. This place served as a lodging house for travelling officials, as a defence post against Japanese pirate raids, and as a checkpoint inspecting the people and goods passing through the Jagwonjin ferry crossing. In other words, it combined the functions of a won (travellers' lodge), a gwan (checkpoint) and a jin (ferry crossing); today only the site remains. During the Japanese invasions of Korea (the Imjin War), it is also famous as the place where General Park Jin, magistrate of Miryang, fought a desperate, all-out battle against the advancing Japanese forces.
